Great Guy Seeking Light Rider

Today’s Clearinghouse horse is “Bo.” This handsome guy sounds ideal for a light rider who just wants to toodle around on trails. If you can give Bo a home, please contact the owner at the contact email below.

“After spending the last year looking for a new home, I would like to have him moved by Sept 1; but I know these things take time. Attached are a few photos of Bo – one was taken over the weekend and the other i him with my corgi. Barn Name: Bo Breed: Appendix (QH x TB) – reg. QH Age: 18 DOB: 03.12.95 Sex: Gelding Height: 16hh Color: Grey Previous Life: Hunter/Equitation Horse Location: Amelia, VA Soundness Serviceable (arthritis and minor navicular changes, but the vet & farrier believe he can handle a light riding/trail home)

Bo is a beautiful 18 year old, grey Appendix gelding. I purchased Bo as a 5 year old from a vet, who had previous trail ridden him and he has been in my family for the last 13 years. I trained Bo myself, and he ha a strong dressage/flat foundation. From 2000-2003, Bo successfully competed in the hunters and equitations at 3′ bringing home numerous championships and year-end awards. In 2003, Bo went to Virginia Tech with me and spent his years in Blacksburg being ridden on the beautiful hillside, as well as being used by both the Virginia Tech and Radford riding teams at their Intercollegiate Horse Shows in the WT, WTC, and Novice divisions.

Bo returned to Amelia in 2007, where he has been ridden on and off, but never seems to give attitude in between breaks. He helped me get back into riding after a year off because I was battling melanoma and doing treatments; he never once took advantage of my frail state. His gaits are very smooth and comfy wit easy transitions and excellent breaks! He goes in a D-ring snaffle and responds well to voice commands. Bo has previous therapeutic experience and is extremely easy for riders to stay balanced on or for people to walk next to him. He carries himself with a very steady and even head carriage. Bo is comfortable in new surroundings and doesn’t mind indoor rings and is currently on a rotation turnout, but would be happy living outside. On the ground, Bo has a puppy dog personality and has always been a barn favorite, where ever he has been boarded. Bo loves a good peppermint or an oats ‘n honey granola bar. He is also used to dogs, both small and large — he even learned how to be led out to the field by a corgi when he was in Blacksburg. He has also been exposed to cows and does fine around them. He is currently UTD on all shots/Coggins and worming. He stands for the vet, farrier, bathes, clips, loads, ground ties, etc. I hope this is helpful and I appreciate any help, my contact info is listed below. Bo really is a sweetheart and I just wan to find him a good & loving home.”
