Adopt A Horse In Need

Hollywood yawn

Do you have a farm and a big heart? There are many loving Appaloosa and other horses currently in need of a permanent home and family, and many more in imminent danger. White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue acquires at-risk horses through owner surrender, purchase and rehabilitation of livestock auction meat horses and the purchase and transport of nurse mare foals. Many of these horses are sound, healthy animals just in need of a boost. Others, due to age or medical condition are unsuitable as sport horses but perfect as companion animals for your existing horse. Some can be lightly ridden.

White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue requires that potential adopters meet the following criteria for good homes:

  1. Fill out our Questionnaire and Application
  2. Agree to a farm visit to ensure that your horse will be adequately pastured and sheltered.
  3. Provide veterinary, farrier and personal references.
  4. Pay an adoption fee to help us defray the normal costs of food, medicine and transportation that we provide to your horse.
  5. Agree to a follow-up visit to make sure that your horse is continuing to recieve good care.

In return, we will provide you with a full assessment of your horse’s health condition and known abilities and temperament. Horses will have current vaccinations and a Coggins test. But most important, you will gain the friendship of a horse that may never have otherwise had a chance to trust. You will know that you have given both purpose and refuge to an animal in need. And you will have our gratitude for your support of our efforts to help save the lives of these beautiful horses.
